In this role, you’ll design and develop PLC and SCADA systems for gas plants, gate stations, compressor stations, and field facilities while collaborating with engineering and operations teams from project concept through commissioning. What You’ll Do

Design & Engineering

  • Design industrial control systems for natural gas facilities, including control panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings based on P&IDs.
  • Develop and modify PLC programs to automate plant and field operations.
  • Create engineering documentation that supports installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance.

PLC, SCADA & Systems Integration

  • Configure and maintain SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, alarming, and control.
  • Integrate PLCs, instrumentation, and field devices using industrial communication protocols over serial and Ethernet networks.
  • Ensure secure, reliable communications across industrial control systems.

Project Execution

  • Lead automation projects from initial design through startup and commissioning.
  • Partner with Gas Control, Operations, Production Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to develop effective control system solutions.
  • Ensure projects meet safety, regulatory, and operational requirements while staying on schedule.

Commissioning & Technical Support

  • Lead system startup, testing, validation, and commissioning activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC, SCADA, networking, and instrumentation issues.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and contractors to resolve technical challenges.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical guidance and support to operations and maintenance teams.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, operating procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Recommend system improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, and performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and supporting industrial control systems.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
  • Solid understanding of process control theory, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience developing control panel designs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC programs from P&IDs.
  • Experience supporting startup and commissioning of industrial automation systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the natural gas, propane, oil & gas, petrochemical, or other process industries.
  • Familiarity with gas flow measurement, custody transfer, and control system integrity standards.
  • Experience supporting compressor stations, gas plants, or pipeline facilities.

On-Call Requirement: This position participates in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.
