Design the Controls Behind Industrial Automation
Our client is seeking an Electrical Controls Designer to join the engineering team and design industrial control systems used across a range of applications. This is an opportunity to work with engineers, customers, vendors, and suppliers while developing control panel, networking, instrumentation, and electrical designs.
If you have experience with AutoCAD Electrical, industrial controls, control panels, and electrical design, this role gives you the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful engineering projects and expand your expertise in industrial automation.
What You’ll Do
- Design and modify industrial control systems
- Create control panel layouts, schematics, and electrical drawings
- Develop networking designs and field device layouts
- Select and specify control system components
- Interpret P&IDs, process flows, specifications, and other engineering documents
- Design control panels to UL 508A and NFPA 70 requirements
- Create I/O lists, specifications, test procedures, manuals, and project documentation
- Maintain CAD component libraries, templates, and title blocks
- Manage document and revision control
- Work closely with engineers, project leads, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies
- Stay current with industrial control panel design and drafting practices
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience creating control system drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, motor controls, and field instrumentation
- 2+ years of experience with industrial communication protocols and distributed I/O systems
- Experience with EtherNet/IP and/or EtherCAT preferred
- Knowledge of UL 508A and NFPA 70
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flows, and engineering specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
