A well-established engineering and systems integration firm with more than 40 years of industry experience. The company is employee-owned and works on complex engineering, automation, electrical, and control system projects across a variety of industries.

We are currently seeking a CAD Electrical Designer to support the development and modification of electrical and control system drawings for project and upgrade work.

Position Overview

The CAD Designer will develop and modify panel layouts, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, control system networks, general arrangements, P&IDs, and other electrical documentation. This position will work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams to provide design support and help ensure projects meet customer, quality, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical layouts for buildings, panels, lighting, power systems, and related equipment using standard drafting symbols and project specifications.
• Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to create and modify client drawings, including general arrangements, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and other project documentation.
• Support electrical and control system design activities for project upgrades and modifications.
• Review vendor documentation and incorporate applicable information into design concepts under the direction of senior designers or engineering leadership.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, technical documentation, and equipment specifications.
• Apply knowledge of electrical design practices, construction, manufacturing, control systems, and electrical engineering principles.
• Work with project teams to provide engineering and design support and assist with problem-solving.
• Conduct site visits to inspect, measure, and assess existing conditions related to project upgrades, including cabinet wiring, raceway systems, electrical equipment, and general arrangements.
• Maintain accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail while meeting project schedules and deadlines.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
• Perform general project and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year degree in Computer-Aided Drafting/Design, Electrical Design, or a related field preferred.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant CAD design experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD 2024 or newer and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Working knowledge of electrical drafting, design practices, and electrical components.
• Understanding of NFPA and NEC standards and their application to electrical designs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, vendor documentation, schematics, and technical specifications.
• Experience with power plant design and/or field work is a plus.
• Ability to conduct field measurements and evaluate existing site conditions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project priorities.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15–30%, primarily for local day trips in the Tampa area. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Physical Requirements

The role may require the ability to perform activities such as driving, climbing, mounting and dismounting equipment, lifting, pushing, pulling, and working with tools or equipment. Candidates should have sufficient visual, auditory, communication, and hand dexterity capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
