Requirements

  • Class “C” Water Operator Certification or higher, and previous experience in water treatment, utility operations, or related field.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations relating to water operations, including collection and distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, on-call rotation, and overtime.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Operates water treatment facilities/booster stations/aquifer recharge facilities/collection system.
  • Utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to monitor all water production and distribution aspects to meet daily water demands.
  • Respond to on-call issues including SCADA alarms, customer complaints, main breaks, etc.
  • Coordinates and oversees distribution and collection infrastructure repairs with staff and contractors.
  • Adjusts chemical feed pumps according to flow and demand changes.
  • Operates and performs routine instrument calibration of in-line analytical equipment.
  • Performs maintenance of well house assets and booster pump stations as needed.
  • Locates infrastructure to prevent damage by contractors.
  • Utilizes the Asset Management database to record data and workflow.
  • Participate in various inspection programs such as our Valve Exercising Program to ensure that the system meets district standards.
  • Perform annual fire hydrant flushing to remove sediment build-up and ensure proper hydrant operation.

Target salary range: min $23-38 hourly. (Depending on experience and certifications.)
