Our client is seeking a Vice President of Engineering and Controls to lead the strategic direction, technical execution, and growth of engineering, controls, automation, and systems integration operations.

This is an opportunity for an engineering leader who combines technical expertise with business acumen and understands how to build teams, manage complex projects, engage customers, and deliver profitable results.

What You’ll Lead

  • Lead engineering and controls operations, including a department P&L of approximately $50M
  • Manage budgets, staffing, utilization, EBITDA, margins, revenue, and department performance
  • Establish engineering standards, design methodologies, and best practices across teams and offices
  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering and controls teams
  • Serve as the technical authority for electrical design, controls, automation, and systems integration
  • Oversee solutions involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS interfaces, industrial networking, and cybersecurity
  • Ensure engineering work meets applicable NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, UL, and customer requirements
  • Partner with project management, operations, and field services to deliver projects safely, on time, and on budget
  • Support complex projects, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and technical problem resolution
  • Partner with sales and business development on project scoping, estimates, proposals, and customer solutions
  • Build long-term customer relationships and represent our client as a technical leader in systems integration
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardization, quality, safety, and operational performance

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master’s preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive engineering and controls experience, including significant systems integration experience
  • Experience actively managing a $40M+ department-level P&L
  • Financial expertise involving EBITDA, margins, revenue, budgets, and staffing
  • Proven success leading and developing engineering teams
  • Strong knowledge of industrial controls, automation platforms, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks
  • Experience with low-voltage electrical power systems in industrial or commercial environments
  • Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Strong communication, leadership, customer engagement, and decision-making skills

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical or control systems
  • Experience in utilities, power generation, renewables, oil & gas, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure
  • Knowledge of industrial control system cybersecurity standards
  • Experience in a service-based or EPC-adjacent organization
