A Sr. Automation and Control Engineer is needed for a large natural gas and power company that provides clean and affordable energy to their customers. The Sr. Automation and Controls Engineer will be responsible for process control systems, communication infrastructure, and information systems to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas by engineering and developing hardware and software automation and control solutions for Gas Control, Operations Dispatch, and field locations, including plants and gate stations.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and implement technologies and system architectures to maintain and enhance the cyber security and reliability of the Industrial Control Systems(ICS) environment, including the review, testing, analysis, and development of threat prevention measures to ensure the cyber security of the ICS environment.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of process control systems, communication infrastructure and information systems to evaluate system vulnerabilities within the ICS environment, determine the relative risk, and implement mitigation measures.
  • Develops and maintains an accurate software and firmware management database of the ICS environment to minimize cyber risk
  • Determines what software updates and firmware updates are required and appropriate through testing and documented analysis
  • Develop, validate, and document procedures for testing and applying software and firmware updates
  • Analyze ICS networks to determine cyber risks and provide solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities and improve cyber security posture
  • Troubleshoot ICS networks to resolve communication problems
  • Troubleshoot SCADA applications and PLC programs to resolve operational problems
  • Test and evaluate cyber security vulnerabilities within SCADA applications, PLCs, and RTUs
  • Programs PLCs and RTUs using vendor-specific industrial programming languages for automation of Gate Station control and monitoring of flow, pressure, temperature, and odorization of natural gas, as well as Plant; controlling and monitoring of compressors, boilers, pumps, and valves, for peak shaving operations.
  • Program SCADA applications and HMIs using vendor-specific programming languages to provide a graphical interface to the gas distribution system

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have US Citizenship or Green Card
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 5+ Years of related experience with industrial control systems required
  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA applications, PLC hardware, and PLC programming required
  • Extensive knowledge of process control and measurement theory, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical instrumentation systems required
  • Proven capability to troubleshoot complex Industrial Control Systems(ICS) equipment and processes required
  • Proven capability to communicate ICS operational functional requirements and operation to internal and external stakeholders required
  • Working knowledge of control systems in natural gas and propane processing, storage, and handling facilities preferred
  • Experience with network technologies, cyber security, Windows Servers, and relational databases preferred
  • Must be available to serve on-call on a rotating schedule.
