The Network Engineer – Industrial, will identify, evaluate, and report on cybersecurity risks; lead industry-wide information security efforts that integrate all aspects of information assurance, and provide protection of computer systems, networks, and member operational and confidential data from internal and external threats. The Industrial Network Engineer -Industrial position is a full-time, salaried, exempt role, reporting directly to the VP of IT for OT.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement industrial network architecture, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, to meet specific project requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and IT professionals, to ensure the successful integration and deployment of industrial networks
  • Perform network assessments and identify areas for improvement in terms of performance, security, and reliability
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and industrial gateways.
  • Implement network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks (VPNs), to safeguard industrial networks from potential cyber threats.
  • Conduct network testing, monitoring, and performance analysis to identify and resolve network issues proactively
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and select networking equipment and software solutions suitable for industrial environments
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in industrial networking technologies and best practices to ensure continuous improvement and innovation
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients or internal stakeholders during network-related incidents or outages

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years’ working in cybersecurity risks and leading industry-wide information security efforts that integrate all aspects of information assurance
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining industrial networks, including knowledge of protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFINET, and OPC
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA) and their integration with industrial networks
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting and diagnostic tools, including Wireshark, SNMP, and network analyzers
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including VLANs, ACLs, VPNs, and firewall configurations
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware) and network virtualization (SDN) is desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex network issues and provide effective solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to project timelines
  • Ability to do 25% travel to customer locations

 

Working Environment

Duties are performed in an office environment and workshop, but will also require travel to customer sites/locations to perform analysis, installation, training maintenance, etc. Must be willing to work in a variety of manufacturing facilities.
