Are you looking for a role with low travel? Great opportunity to join a dynamic team in the St. Paul, MN area as a PLC Service Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

As a PLC Service Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our clients’ automation systems. This role serves as a key subject matter expert and resource internally, and for customers.

Primary Duties:

• Handling customer technical support cases through phone and email submission.

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC systems to ensure minimal downtime.

• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to PLC hardware and software.

• Drives root cause analysis on process or asset failures and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Conduct on-site inspections and provide technical support to clients.

• Develop and maintain documentation for PLC systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in PLC technology and industry standards.

• Provide training to clients and internal staff on PLC system operation and maintenance.

• Works within department standards for documentation, panel design, program structure, and workflow.

• Collaborate with clients to understand their automation needs and provide effective solutions.

• Provides Engineering Estimates for customer change requirements.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.

• Five (5) years progressive controls engineering experience.

• Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.

• Knowledge of various PLC brands such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Mitsubishi.

• Experience with SCADA systems and HMI programming.

• Competent with programming Allen Bradley PLC platforms.

• Competent with programming Allen Bradley FT View ME and SE platforms.

• Knowledge of programming Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.

• Experience in applying UL508A and applicable NFPA codes.

• Ability to use CAD software for developing P&I drawings and electrical control panel design.

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.

• Ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in the English language; must be fluent in English.

• Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done with high quality and in a professional manner.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

 

Work Environment:

• Professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office setting.

• Participation in 24/7 Support Team coverage (on rotational basis), requires night and weekend availability to respond to support calls.

• Occasional work in panel shop performing panel layout and wiring functions.

• On-site trips to customer’s manufacturing facilities and exposure to typical rubber compounding facility environment (10% – 15% travel).

• PPE requirements while at customer’s facility (Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes, Hearing Protection, Arc Flash rating clothing, high visibility vest, etc.).
