A systems integrator is seeking a Controls Engineer with experience in water/wastewater projects to work remotely in the Midwest. If you live in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Illinois, they will set you up with everything you need to work with their team from your home.
This remote opportunity requires about 25% travel. You will work independently and as part of a project team. Experience in the water/wastewater industry is preferred and familiarity with PLCs, motor control panels, and motor control centers is required.

Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in engineering or electrical technology
- Minimum of 3 years experience in schematic electrical design
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
- Field experience with industrial control wiring, startup, testing, and operation
- Field experience with instrumentation such as level, flow, and pressure instruments
- Proficient in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software
- Experience in the water/wastewater industry is preferred
- Familiarity with PLCs, motor control panels, and motor control centers
- Familiarity with industrial networking equipment such as switches, patch panels, controllers, and graphical interface equipment
- Knowledge of water/wastewater process control is helpful but not mandatory
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- This position requires 25% travel
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from inception through final completion
- Create custom electrical designs for each project, working both independently and as part of a project team to deliver the project successfully
- Work with internal staff and external contractors and customers to execute projects smoothly
- Develop project Bill of Materials based on electrical drawings developed
- Contribute to the ongoing development of AutoCAD standard symbols and drawings
- Develop electrical schematic drawings for industrial control equipment using the latest version of AutoCAD and customer specifications
- Design and maintain system drawings in AutoCAD, review and update drawings from red-lined field markups created during the startup process, and prepare as-installed record drawings
- Work closely with multiple Project Managers on a variety of projects
- Participate in factory/shop testing, equipment checkout, system startup & implementation, and customer training on-site.
- Assist with project startups, including instrumentation installation, configuration, and calibration
- Programming of PLC, OIT, and HMI systems
- Setup computers, network switches, tablets, and mobile devices
- Assist in radio telemetry testing and installation of equipment
- Perform field-wiring internal to industrial control equipment and instrumentation devices
- Work with customers on-site and provide exceptional customer service
