As a Controls Engineer in Hampton, NH you will be responsible for controls engineering project requirements involving control panel design, PLC programming, instrumentation, check out support and start-up assistance.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develops Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), Test Plans, Software Design Descriptions (SDD), Sequence of Operations (SOO) and support documentation for successful job design, implementation, and completion.
- Designs, develops, and implements control systems (logic software and hardware) to meet project and integrated system requirements.
- Develops control logic software and user interface applications.
- Develops schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts on AutoCAD (or equivalent) software.
- Will assist with initial start-up and debug integrated systems and the development of system documentation.
- Individual will work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in the power system industries.
- May act as project manager on some projects working directly with customers. As well as guiding lower-level engineers and technicians.
- Maintains and builds on current business relationships to promote repeat business.
- Develops proposals for qualified business leads.
- General administration such as paperwork, copying, printing, faxing, and using a computer
Project Management Responsibilities:
Provide the support of projects under the guidance of a senior engineer. Assist with individual work coordination of responsibilities among several project demands. Travel to and some work at remote locations is a component of project tasks including relating directly to clients at their facilities. Client relationship management by status updates, scope clarification, or work planning, both verbal and written (in English), is key to success. Domestic and international travel is required.
Job Requirements:
Education –Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering. An AA in Engineering Technology or equivalent with equivalent experience may be substituted.
Experience – 5+ years in areas listed below is preferred:
An in-depth understanding of control systems, components, ladder logic programming, DCS and.or SCADA programming and their applications (i.e. FactoryStudio, Tatsoft, , Cimplicity, Wonderware, Inductive Automation, GE Digital.) Experience with instrumentation and controls design as well as PLC (i.e. Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens) and/or SCADA required. Experience with AutoCAD is also desired.
Many projects involve power systems monitoring, control of high voltage power breakers and generators. A desire to learn and understand the fundamentals and operations of power system components, terminology and functions is required for this position.
- Travel – Ability to travel up to 35%.
- Background – US citizenship plus capability and willingness to meet strenuous background check requirements of Federal, port and critical energy infrastructure facilities is required.
