Work for a distributor that has long-standing partnerships with top manufacturers in automation, electrical, datacom, power transmission, safety, industrial supply, lighting, and solar solutions.

As an Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and selling automation solutions as well as developing and increasing customers’ automation capabilities by offering the best possible solution.

You will work with the distributor’s factory reps and with staffed specialists to offer a full package of automation products to industrial, commercial, and residential markets. This position will also be responsible for creating an annual training schedule for both customers and employees (training classes are held monthly).

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute effective business and account plans for the sale and marketing of all Automation product lines.
  • Support Account Managers and Inside staff to grow all relationships to support automation lines.
  • Offer effective training and guidance for Inside Staff and Account Managers.
  • Utilize the WPCRM sales tool to coordinate all projects for tracking purposes so that other Specialists, Account Managers, and Branch Managers can follow the AIDInc process to completion.
  • Lead customer-focused training events, i.e., lunch and learns scheduled technical training, and other business-related presentations.
  • Identify the target customer base, establish relationships, and cultivate opportunities leading to the sale of identified products.
  • Inform the integration and panel-building community of product lines, new product additions, technologies, programs, and joint marketing efforts.
  • Drive specifications and acceptance of core automation product lines and components to customers.
  • Develop and pursue automation project opportunities by effectively combining multiple product lines for cohesive automation solutions.
  • Help maintain and grow the company’s business and presence in the area

Qualifications:

  • AS/BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of industrial manufacturing or electrical distribution experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to create original concepts to promote, train, service, and sell to internal and external customers.
  • Strong arbitration skills to effectively listen, communicate, and gain consensus.
  • Strong presentation skills in group and individual situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly articulate highly technical products and services.
  • Ability to view supported products and technology as a business revenue opportunity.
  • Ability to manage and implement marketing, promotional programs, and product launches from identified product businesses.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate the sales teaming efforts required to identify and close account conversions.
  • Ability to develop and understand data and how it can be used to analyze business opportunities.
  • Computer skills (i.e., Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, PDF, PowerPoint).
  • Collaborative coordination and time management.
