Primary Purpose

The Controls Engineer will support controls engineering projects involving PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, control panel design, instrumentation, system testing, and start-up assistance. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop hands-on experience with industrial automation and control systems.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development, and implementation of control systems to meet machine and integrated system requirements
  • Develop and modify PLC control logic and HMI applications
  • Assist with control system schematics, wiring documentation, and control panel layouts
  • Support system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of project documentation
  • Work alongside experienced controls engineers on automation and control system integration projects
  • Support projects for clients across industries such as food and beverage, semiconductor, and other industrial applications
  • Learn and apply industry standards and best practices for controls and automation
  • Perform general project and engineering-related administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent education/experience will also be considered

Experience

  • Experience with controls, automation, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley or Ignition experience highly preferred
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming and ladder logic
  • Exposure to HMI/SCADA systems preferred
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, control panels, and instrumentation preferred
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on industrial environment
